Dogmeet is an annual conference for 60-90 volunteer K9 Handlers from around the region. It is held on a rotating basis in various counties in Washington State and will be hosted in Snohomish County in 2009. The event is an opportunity for handlers to be exposed to the highest caliber presenters and teachers and to develop relationships with other teams with whom they may be deployed on searches.

Volunteer Search and Rescue K9 Teams are used in searches for lost and missing persons. K9 Handlers must be dedicated and highly skilled and their K9s hard working, and well-trained, to be effective. Specific applications for SAR K9s include urban/suburban/rural/wilderness settings, disaster, deceased victims, avalanche, and drowning or recovery. These teams are an extremely valuable and irreplaceable resource in their local communities. For more information on mission deployments go to: "Airscent K9 Mission Deployment".

Although these handlers are volunteers deployed by their local Sheriffs, they are generally not reimbursed for their expenses from taxpayer or government funds. K9 Team handlers make a substantial investment of time and personal financial resources in training and equipment to become and stay operational. Handlers pay their own costs of travel and room and board at the event.

The high caliber training available at this conference is efficiently delivered but these experienced presenters have considerable cost traveling to the event so we must ask for public support to continue the program. SCVSAR has received notification from the IRS of its 501c(3) status as a tax exempt organization. Donations from individuals, businesses, and supporting organizations are much appreciated and needed.

The Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue (SCVSAR) K9 Team is a part of SCVSAR, a 'not-for-profit' volunteer organization committed to assisting the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office in locating lost persons and rescuing injured persons from the backcountry.

Support will be much appreciated at any level, Major Event Sponsorships ($2,500+), Supporting Sponsorships ($1,000+), and contributions in any amount from individuals and businesses of cash, and gift certificates  or merchandise for the event raffle.
